The Heart Behind Lulu’s Blend: Lulu Gribbin's story is one of incredible resilience and courage. Following a tragic shark attack, Lulu has shown an inspiring spirit and determination in her recovery. In honor of her strength and to assist in her ongoing journey, we have created Lulu's Blend. This unique coffee blend is more than just a beverage; it's a symbol of community support and hope. Lulu’s recovery has been arduous, but she has not faced it alone. On June 7, 2024, 15-year-old Lulu Gribbin and her twin sister Ellie were on a mother-daughter beach trip in Florida with friends. The group of Birmingham teens were swimming in the ocean when Lulu was tragically attacked by a shark.
Lulu underwent life-saving amputation surgery. Even though she lost her left hand and her right leg, Lulu’s first words upon opening her eyes were, “I made it!”
Lulu’s mother Ann Gribbin created a Caring Bridge page where she shares updates on Lulu. “What I have witnessed is that Lulu is here. Nothing about her personality or funny, smart, loving self has changed one bit," Ann wrote, “She is truly a miracle.” Lulu has started occupational and physical therapy sessions. “She is going to rehab to re-learn things she used to know how to do with two hands and two legs. She has been remarkable and exceeding the goals they are giving her,” Ann shared.
