Royal Cup Coffee and Tea Takes Another Step Along Their Sustainability Journey

Reading time: 1 minute

At Royal Cup Coffee and Tea, we’re passionate about sharing delicious, high-quality coffee and tea with our customers. However, our passion extends far beyond the perfect cup. We are focused on the triple-bottom-line - environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic stability - at every step of our process, from sourcing raw materials to delivering coffee and tea to our customers.

For years, Royal Cup has been a champion of sustainable practices. We source our coffees and teas from reputable suppliers, ensuring both responsible environmentally-friendly growing methods and initiatives that benefit the farmers and the local community. In addition, some of our coffees and teas carry Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance or USDA organic certifications. We also prioritize eco-friendly packaging and related supplies wherever possible.

But we know there's always more to be done. That's where Reworld™ comes in. They specialize in transforming what was once considered waste into valuable resources.

Here's how our partnership is making a difference:

  • Coffee chaff, the tiny skins left behind after roasting, needed to be sent to the landfill due to this large volume of waste.  The same is true for the majority of our burlap sacks which our coffee is transported in but, we do repurpose a portion of these sacks by donating them to local farms and nurseries as well as organizations that use them for oyster beds.

  • We now repurpose this waste thanks to our partnership with Reworld™. Reworld™’s innovative process allows us to turn all this chaff and burlap into usable biomass. This lessens landfill waste and creates an alternate energy source for cement kilns.

By partnering with Reworld™ in April of 2024, we’re not just reducing our environmental footprint, we're helping to create a more sustainable future for the coffee and tea industry as a whole.
